Above is me trying to put as many of my favorite things in one pic: Travel, eating/drinking, and reading :)
About Me
Hi all,
My name is Laura and I love traveling. And food. And reading. And--ok there's a lot that I love about the world we live in, and I want to share it with you! I'm originally from Iowa and lived there for the first 22 years of my life and still love so much about it and the Midwest, but it was time to try something new.
After attending college at Wartburg College in Iowa, I decided to go out-of-state for grad school. I was getting my Masters in Library and Information Science and wanted to go someplace that had a program/specialization in "health librarianship" and so my next destination was Pittsburgh, where I attended the University of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh was my first real city that I lived in, and I was hooked. Hooked on city life, and hooked on Pittsburgh. Even though I have since moved away from Pittsburgh, it will still remain one of my favorite places, and I am a "Pittsburgh-pusher", a term I made up to describe someone who tries to shove how awesome Pittsburgh is down your throat :)
I graduated with my Masters in 2012 and soon after moved to Boston with my friend (after a grand 5-week backpacking trip of Europe). Why Boston, you may ask? I say, why not? I had no specific place in mind to go and I was up for a new adventure. A couple of months in, after experiencing unemployed life for a bit (interesting), I was lucky enough to find a job at the the oldest public library in the country.

While commuting to work at the library one day, I randomly got it into my head that I wanted to write a blog. I've never thought of this as something I would do because I've never been a "writer", but here I am. Traveling is my top priority in life, so it started as just being a travel blog to showcase my domestic and international travels, for others and also for myself. Instead, I decided I wanted to write about more than that. Everyone needs a way to express their feelings about favorite restaurants, books, television shows, music, and more--or at least I do!
After living in Boston for over 5 years, I decided to make a change and head closer to the Midwest. In between that time, I quit my job and traveled around for a few months. Where I eventually landed was closer to the Midwest, an 11 hour drive home instead of a 26 hour drive, but still not the Midwest. Where di I end up? In good ole' Nashville, TN. I'm living in the South for the first time! So join me as I regale you with my travels, obsess over current favorite songs, tell you about the best books I read, and introduce you to the food of Nashville! (Updated in 2018)
Cheers,
Laura
