Fast forward to December 27th, 2014 and I was seeing them for the second time at the Sinclair in Cambridge, a great, small and intimate venue. Admittedly, I am not usually one to be into seeing or keeping tabs on local or lesser-known bands, but there's just something about their music that I really love. It's definitely folky, but their somewhat lack of using traditional instruments, such as a typical drum-set and having a cellist as a main instrument in almost every song, makes it unique, beautiful and fun!
The concert itself (or at least their part of it) did not start until about 10:50, which was quite late, but I'll forgive them for that because both of the bands before them, Darlingside and Tall Heights, were really good. Considering I own both of their EPs, I was surprised that I only knew two songs that they played, but that was OK because it just means they are producing a lot of new, great music for me to enjoy!
Overall, they're a great band to see and they travel quite a bit around the country, especially the Midwest- so friends in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, be on the lookout for the Ballroom Thieves. Tickets are usually cheap, and they put on a good show! I'm going to leave you with two songs by them. The first, "Save Me" is my favorite, and the second "Vampires" showcases their great energy!
