In the weeks leading up to the concert, I started listening to FGL (Florida Georgia Line for short) and Thomas Rhett on Spotify, and I started to really like them. I forgot how many hits that Thomas Rhett actually had and his newest, "Crash and Burn", grew on me so freaking fast it wasn't even funny. It's actually my current favorite song. I listened to both of FGL's CDs and they have many good songs as well, and they are great easy-listening songs. Now, when I say this I don't mean it's like jazz music or anything, but I put them on the same scale as Jason Aldean (that's saying a lot in my book), where the whole CD is usually so good that when I am studying (when I was in school) concentrating on something, I can still listen to them. I still absorb the songs and remember them though, which means that I knew the majority of their songs fairly well. This always makes for a better concert, so by the time the night of the concert came, I was pumped!
We got there plenty early (ha! and we were worried), with time to spare before Frankie Ballard came on the stage. He's got this James Dean, 1950's look to him with the hair, tight jeans, and leather jacket-I loved it! His voice is also a bit gravelly, which I think will be his trademark. He had a few songs that I realized I knew and they were fun to hear. Sunshine and Whiskey is his top hit. In between Frankie and Thomas, my friend and I went to grab a beer and our mission failed. They ran out at the Harpoon tent right as I got to the window and had waited for 20 minutes. This is why there is a picture with my friend and I VERY EXCITED with our beers that we finally got during the next intermission :)
Thomas Rhett was up next and I am now such a fan! He has some really great songs and he was an awesome performer. Also, he looked great in his open-suit getup with a black v-neck. (Yes, I may go to country concerts for the eye candy sometimes, so sue me). Another great song of his that I loved hearing live was "It Goes Like This". It just so happened that "Crash and Burn" which he played last (and was SO MUCH FUN) arrived at #1 on the country charts that night, so he and his band celebrated with some champagne! I really wanted to put the video for "Crash and Burn" on here, but there are only vevo videos and they won't allow it, booooo!
