Luckily, I didn't go by myself as one of my former roommates joined me on this delicious prix-fixe dinner. Gaslight Brasseire is a French restaurant, but even the waitress said that the menu for Dine Out Boston, was picked specifically for this, and not just normal menu items. This felt special, which was great, but I also realized I wasn't able to sample what their real menu tasted like. You'll soon see though, that it didn't matter because with this prix-fixe menu, I saw what the chefs at Gaslight could do, and it means I'll be back to try their typical menu.
It was a very hot day on Monday, but it had cooled down a smidge by the time we sat down for dinner at 5:45 and so we decided to sit outside on their beautiful patio (it was in the shade, of course!). I ended up choosing a French-like beer, meaning it's from Quebec, and that worked out perfectly for me. Then it was time to choose from the prix-fixe menu, I chose: Chilled Watermelon Gazpacho for my hors d'oeuvre; Parisian Gnochhi for my plats principaux (main course); and Dark Chocolate Truffle Cake for my dessert. Each course was amazing! The gazpacho was perfect for the hot summer day, I really liked it. My favorite though, was the gnocchi. Just read the ingredients in this: pulled duck confit, oyster mushrooms, sweet corn, and lemon tarragon pistou. *Makes Italian hand to lips gesture that means DELICIOUS* The dessert was very tasty too, but a bit too rich at the end. They gave us two slices of the cake and one would have been enough (I know, I can't believe I'm saying less dessert either). The total for the prix-fixe menu was just $33, not too shabby for a fancy three-course, delightful meal! I'd absolutely recommend Gaslight for anyone looking for great food in a beautiful setting. Enjoy the pictures down below of my courses :)
