Far from her Idol days where she was this innocent young Oklahoman (Okie?) with a perm, she is now a blonde bombshell with incredible pipes and MAN, can she put on a good show! Similar to her gig hosting the CMA's, she changed outfits a number of times, which is an impressive feat to do at a concert that you are the main star of. I didn't want this performance to end. Even the few songs she performed that weren't her own were amazing. She sang "I Will Always Love You" which was apparently first sung by Dolly Parton (I don't profess to know much about country music pre-late 1980's) and the rendition of it is slightly different but no less beautiful.
In addition to many of her old/new hits, she sang a few songs off of her new album and there were a couple that I really enjoyed and anticipate seeing on the country charts soon. Those were: "Church Bells" and "Renegade Runaway". My favorite songs she performed were:
- "Good Girl" - I forgot how awesome this song is and it was a real fun one
- "Heartbeat' - It's her most recent song and one that has been on my recent country and general playlists on Spotify so I've heard it a lot and it was awesome to hear it live.
- "Jesus Take the Wheel" - This has never been my favorite song by her but WOW was it incredibly powerful hearing her sing it. I think I even cried a little bit.
- "Little Toy Guns" - Every once in awhile there are times that I am not as current with what is popular on country radio so I kind-of missed this song when it was on the radio and only recently discovered it before the concert. What a great song!!
- "Something in the Water" - One of the best songs she has done in recent years. A real power ballad! This is what she closed the night with and I wouldn't expect anything less!
Really all of her songs were great and she preformed THE HECK out of all of them so it was a fantastic concert! She's definitely my girl crush and I am quite awed by her. If you get the opportunity to see her in concert, definitely see her!
