- To read a few books every month that are on my "Top of my to-read list" which include a lot of romances and continuation of series I've started, or just books that when I first put them on my list I was SO excited to read them, but just haven't gotten around to it! -- I read about 13. Barely even one a month. Soooo I read some, but not as much as I wanted to.
- Read Gone With the Wind. This has been on my reading goals list every year, but this year is the year - mostly because one of my book clubs chose it to read this year! --CHECK. So proud! I read it and actually really enjoyed it. The audio was a delight!
- By the time the summer rolls around, Game of Thrones will officially be over :( Wahhhhhhh! So it's the perfect time for me to continue reading the Song of Ice and Fire Series. I've only read the first book so far, so my goal is to read A Clash of Kings. --Well, I re-read/listened to the audio of the first book haha but I didn't get around to reading the second.
- Read more romance novels! Romance really started my love of reading again in my freshman year of college, and I so I'm feeling I need to go back to it. My romance-to-read shelf on Goodreads has over 250 books in it, so I have plenty to choose from. If you have any suggestions from my list, let me know in the comments! --I read about 24. That's not too shabby
- I have a lifetime goal to read a biography of every president and so I'm setting an achievable goal of reading at least one presidential biography this year - and obviously I'd like to go in order, so I plan to start with His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis. --Reading about 10 pages every day at work on my lunch, about 1/2 way through. So kinda achieved this one!
Now, let's see if I can do better this year!
Reading Goals for 2020:
- So far, I've compiled a list of books to read in 2020 and it's on a shelf on Goodreads. Some of the books on here are ones for upcoming book clubs, or some ARCs (advanced reader copies) of books I'm excited about. I've also included books that I sincerely hope to read this year because they are on the top of my list or will finish out a series. So with this list I guess I'd be knocking out a number of things that are typically on my "reading goals list" like finishing series or reading books that are at the top of my list. I'm hoping I can commit to this pretty well.
- I'd like to continue my goal from last year and make this an every year goal to read one biography of a president every year. I'll finish up His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis, which I'm in the middle of now, and then read John Adams by David McCullough.
- I would truly like to read at least A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin this year. It's been a goal for a stupid amount of years, but I feel this is the year!
- Fantasy seems to be somewhat in my wheel-house lately or at least what I am interested in, so I'd really like to read 1 or 2 of the big name series/authors that I've been meaning to read for years. So either (or both) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, or The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson.
- READ more. I listen to audiobooks A TON, and they end up accounting for half of my reading, when I used to physically read books much more. So I don't have any quantifiable data, but I'd like to focus on taking more time to sit and read books.
And I think that's it! With that first 2020 shelf, I've covered a lot of the goals I hope to accomplish this year. So here's to getting a start!
